Now, I manually backup my databases daily, and backup web pages whenever I make changes. It's a hassle, but it's just become part of my daily routine and only takes a few minutes. As people become more tech-savvy, your local Beavis and Butthead are just as likely to be chuckling away ‘playing hacker’ as they are to be hanging out at the 7-Eleven. … it seems only a few years ago that if you could use a computer it usually meant you had a brain. I don't know how they got in, but on my static sites they overwrote my index files. The good thing was they left the rest of the content intact so I just had to replace the index files by uploading the originals. I'm just glad they didn't delete all my files! On a Wordpress blog, I ended up with two index files - the .html one they put in, and the .php one that Wordpress uses.
