« Making Mochi in the Mountains Rikuto’s First Christmas »

In my last post, Making Mochi in the Mountains, I told you it was my first time to to make Japanese mochi. I wasn’t the only person doing something for the first time.

Rikuto sees snow for the first time

Our trip to the mochi ceremony took us way up into the mountains on a winding road surrounded by snow. We were all surprised snow had fallen since it was a really mild winter’s day, but there was snow everywhere. There was less snow when we reached our destination on the other side of the mountains, butツwe still found some of the white stuffツfor this momentous photograph.

Rikuto sees his great grandmother for the first time

The same evening, my family in Englandツgatheredツaround my mum’s computer so Rikuto could see his great grandmother, who was visiting from Italy. There aren’t many great grandmothers who have used a webcam, and this one was no exception. Sheツwas amazed to beツspeaking face to face with her grandson and great grandson despite the geographicalツdistance between us. Hopefully, it won’t be the last time Rikuto sees his great grandmother, and next time we’ll have to go to Italy and visit in person. In the meantime, here’s a picture of Ricky’s great granny and the gentlemen in the photo is his great uncle, who I haven’t seen for over a decade myself!

Hey Nick,

I didnt even read this post cause Im in Las Vegas in a internet place now.. its costing me 20 cents a minute to write this so I’ve got to save time where I can by not reading your post!!!

Las Vegas is fun but I will probably be back here next week.. I’ve driven 2100 km so far and still have another 500 or so to go!! this gps thing that I bought is awesome! it told me how to find the internet place!

Merry Christmas and eat some sausage!

Nice stuff there Nick with Rikuto’s Great Grandmother. I so much wish my mother could use a computer and only found out this morning that my best mate in Aussie has finally got internet!! Have been on to him for years and now that the kids are older, he finally decided to get it!!
The funny thing is that, the kids know exactly what to do and he is having heaps of trouble haa haa haa.
Just a quick “Stay safe” to Mike and keep your eyes on the road!!!

Keith
God Rikuto is going to be so computer savy when he gets only just a little bit older and that makes me envious!!!
Merry Xmas to all !!!!!!!

My brother doesn’t even have a computer, let alone an internet connection so I know what you mean! It won’t be long before Ricky can sit at the keyboard - musical or otherwise and hammer away at the keys. :)
