If you teach ESL to children then you should stop by ESL-Kids.com. You’ll find a growing number of flashcards, games and songs to use in your classes. What makes ESL-Kids so special is its unique Worksheet Generator which allows you to instantly create an infinite number of theme-based worksheets for you lessons. There are over a dozen worksheet wizards to choose from including bingo, word-picture matching, tracing, multiple choice and spelling quizzes, as well as game sheets using dice and ‘rock, scissors, paper’. The ESL Writing Wizard is a tool for making custom handwriting practice worksheets for children. Dolch-Words.com

Edward. W. Dolch surveyed a great quantity of children’s books and was able to compile a list of the 220 most commonly used words in children’s literature. The Dolch-Words website has printable versions of the list, divided into grade levels and frequency, as well as a list of the 95 most common nouns.

Learning the most frequently used words is a great way to get your kids reading quickly, but since most of the words are ’sight’ words, i.e. they can be prounced phonetically, it is better to learn them within common phrases. Fortunately, Dolch-Words.com has a list of 150 Dolch phrases and a clever tool to create flashcards, writing practice worksheets, and a fun ‘rock, scissors, paper’ game using random selections from the list.
